Intro to McCarthy
McCarthy was a senator from Wisconsin who was able to convince the public that the government was overrun with communists. He also was able to turn them against the army and certain foreign nations. Thus he was able to control the people and increase public paranoia (hence the Red Scare).
Thesis Statement
The conflict of our theme is the conflict between Joseph McCarthy and anyone he ever accused of being associated with communism. The compromise occurred when Joseph McCarthy was censured by the senate, where he lost most of his power.
